Album reviews.

So this week there's been two new albums out, both from some of my favourite bands. Monday was the release date of You Me At Six's fourth album Cavalier Youth and Tuesday was the release date for Of Mice & Men's third album Restoring Force. I gave both a listen and I thought that I wanted to share my thoughts with you about those albums.

I have to admit that I was in fact disappointed by this album. I've been a fan of You Me At Six for three years and some and they nailed their first two albums so precisely that all my expectations to their future albums skyrocketed. The third album, Sinners Never Sleep was, with the words of one of my friends "Well, you can do that better next time, boys", which describes my feelings about it pretty well. It wasn't as I expected it would be, but it still wasn't bad. So my expectations were still high for this album, but I was even more disappointed than I was with SNS. The different sound isn't what's bothering me, not at all, I'm perfectly aware that bands evolve and develop and grow. What is bothering me about this album is that Josh's vocal is really weak. On the older albums he had this dirty little twist to it where it would almost crack and he'd be a little hoarse, but in a really good way. And on this album it's just not as powerful at it usually is. Also it seems like the other guys aren't doing what I know they can do with their instruments. The guitar isn't being shredded, the drums aren't being smashed and the bass isn't being slapped. It's just so much more.. silent, if that's a word you can use for that. It feels like they haven't poured all their hearts and souls into this album, which ironically is what they say they have done. I seriously hope it will be different live. My favourite song off the album is definitely Win Some, Lose Some because to my ears that song is what they have put the most effort into, the bassline is absolutely incredible and the vocals aren't as weak on the rest of the album.

This album kicks so much ass it almost hurts mine. It's the first time Of Mice & Men has released an album with me as a fan, so I didn't have a lot of expectations, except that I of course hoped it was going to be good. I know about their history with different frontmen and I know that even Austin has been singing clean vocals at some shows because they didn't have a frontman whose job was clean vocals. But since I've only listened to their former albums and never seen any live videos with them (I prefer to experience concerts myself and not watch videos of them) I didn't know how Aaron's voice would sound. And I was only prositively surprised. His voice is amazing and it's in perfect harmony with Austin's. Besides that the lyrics on this album are so heartfelt and the music is really good quality. I can't wait to experience this album live, as well as a few songs from the old ones, sung by Aaron. He fits perfectly in the band and I hope that he'll stay for a while.

Review: The Hangover Part III.

Yesterday I went to the cinema with a few of my friends from my old school, since that's sort of a tradition we have. Whenever a film comes out that one of us wants to watch, and that person believes the others want to watch it as well, we just make an event on Facebook and then go.

This time we went to watch The Hangover Part III. We've watched the two previous films together, and of course we had to watch the third and the last one with each other. No doubt!

My expectations to this film were originally quite high, because well, the previous films were just so brilliant. But I read a bit about it, and it didn't seem to have the same plot as the other films: they go out for a few drinks with the best intentions and end up more than hungover somewhere random, and then they have to find out what the fuck they did, plus they have to find the person who's missing. There's always someone missing.

Also before I sat down in the cinema, I had read a few not-so-good reviews of it, and my expectations dropped a bit. With good reason. I'm not saying the film is bad, but compared to the other two, it is. If it was just a film to itself, not the epic ending to a trilogy of really hilarious films, it'd be really good. But you just have so many expectations to this film, and I did get a bit disappointed.

I have to say that the ending was brilliant, though! That was without doubt the best part of the entire film, that's how I know the guys from The Hangover films!

I wish they didn't end the trilogy with this film, I wish they had made one that reminded a bit of the other two, instead of making up this whole new concept. Yes, it'd probably be quite hard to make the third one with the same concept as the first two films and still make it the epic finale it was supposed to be, but it shouldn't be impossible. At least not if you show the film in a cinema filled with a bunch of people who are just as easily entertained as I am.

Should you watch this film? If you've watched the two first, it's just something you have to do. Sorry, but you can't get out of it, you have to finish it. I was entertained, and I did laugh a lot watching this, so if you need a good laugh, sure, go watch it.
But if you didn't like the previous films, the chance that you'll like this one is not so good. It is different from the other ones, yeah, but still kinda the same, of course. Stupid, unintelligent humor and all that jazz.

I would recommend it, because it's something you have to watch.

Review: Grease Lightning.

"Spot treatment.
Strikes the spot with lightning precision.
Dab on this super effective tea tree
and witch hazel gel to zap zits
before they show themselves."

This spot treatment is actually one of the few I've tried that really works. When I remember to use it, that is. I really want to be good at remembering all these little things that are good to me, but for some reason, my brain doesn't think it's important to remember.

The consistency of it is kinda gel-ish, but still a bit watery. It's easy to put on, but if you put on too much, your skin will feel kinda tight. It smells of lavender and personally I really like that smell. It's fresh and not too heavy, it doesn't smell bad and it works. What more can you ask for?

I can recommend this if you're dealing with a small spot problem - not if it's too much, then you need something more effective. But it's really great if you just have a bit. I have a few red spots and it works perfectly fine on those. So I'm happy!

My Body was definitely Warm.

"Dead sexy"

Yesterday Cille and I went to a cinema in Copenhagen to (finally!) watch Warm Bodies. I didn't really have any expectations to it, but I got positively surprised! I think it's actually a really good film. I absolutely love that it had a lot of genres in it: romance, comedy and even a few rather scary elements. Now, some people might think that it's one of these lame love stories like Twilight and such, but it's not. Well yes, it is a love story, but it's nothing like Twilight. First of all, it's with zombies, not vampires. Second, he's actually doing zombie stuff, eating brains and all. Third, there really is a few fights in the film. And it's not just about the love between the main characthers, it's also about how the remaining human beings survive in a world with zombies.

The film is about a zombie guy who calls himself R, since he can't remember his full name. R doesn't actually like being a zombie. One day he meets a girl, Julie, who has a very weird impact on him. He rescues her from a zombie attack on her group, whilst they're outside the safety walls to gather medicine, and he keeps her safe in the abandoned airplane he lives in. They start to get to know each other, and even more weird things happen to not just him, but all the zombies.

I actually watched the trailer for the film, but I didn't quite pick up the Shakespeare hint it has - R and Julie? Also there's a balcony scene, in which Julie's on the balcony and R is looking up on her. Julie's friend is even calling her name from inside of the house. More Shakespeare is impossible.

The main reason for me wanting to watch it in the first place was actually because of one of the main characters, R, who's played by the British actor Nicholas Hoult, with whom I've fallen completely in love. He's in one of my favourite series, Skins, and even in my favourite generation.

If the film's still going in a cinema near you, I suggest you go watch it! And if not, which is really bummer, go watch it somewhere on the internet or buy it on DVD once it comes out. It's really worth it, believe me!

(also excuse me for the title I just couldn't recist. now go watch that film and love it!)

Review: Lush products.

I got a request from the sweet Mia Malene to make a review of the Lush products I just bought. So here's one for all of you to read!

Popcorn lip scrub

This lip scrub is something I've been looking at in a while. I first saw it when I was in Bristol, but neither Cille nor I ended up leaving the Lush store with it. Until another day, where a sweet clerk told us to try it on and showed us how to. I hought it was a bit weird with the salty and sweet at the same time, because we Danes don't put sugar on our popcorn - only salt. Those weird English people, tsk.
I didn't want to buy it at the moment, because I had other stuff I had to buy - such as Marie's birthday present.
But it actually was really good. I liked how my lips turned softer immediately after using it. And the sweet and salty taste was actually quite nice - but that doesn't mean I want to put sugar on my popcorns from now on. Only salt belongs on popcorn and nothing else!
I use it before I go to bed, because I always use a good lip balm when I sleep, so my lips are almost never dry. And this lip scrub helps the lip balm get into your lips, which makes them extra soft. I also use it before putting on lipstick, because it makes the lipstick stick to your lips.
All in all this is a really good product and I can recommend it, not only to people fighting dry lips, but to everyone who wants extra soft lips!

You can buy the product HERE(the UK site, you can probably buy it in other countries as well - NOT Denmark)

Cupcake fresh face mask.

This mask is actually an impulse acquisition. I didn't plan on buying this at all. And since it wasn't expensive, it's alright. I read about it on Cille's blog, as she wrote reviews on all of her Lush products - and that's a lot.
At the moment I'm fighting troubled skin on my forehead and chin and I'm quite desperate, since it doesn't seem to want to be normal again. Usually my skin's quite alright, of course not perfect, but I tend to get these outbursts from time to time.
This mask is supposed to be really great for oily teenage skin, which made me think that it dries out the skin just a tiny bit. Which is basically what I need.

I'd read in some reviews that the smell was very overwhelming - and it definitely is. If you can't take a strong smell in your face masks, don't buy this one, because it's really strong. It's hard to describe what it smells of. Some weird mix of peppermint, chocolate and cocoa. I can't say it's good, but I can't say it's bad either. I only use this face mask right before going to bed, so I won't run around with a face smelling like this all day, and I can recommend it for other people who buys this as well.
All in all the result wasn't something to give a standing applause to. It did make my skin quite softer and I enjoy that, but it didn't do much to my little problem on my forehead, which was my main point right now. I'm not sure that I want to buy this again, but I definitely am continuing to use this. And it's not bad, not at all.
Oh, and then this is vegan, which means that it's 100% natural.

You can buy the product HERE.

Besides all the reviews, I want to wish everyone a lovely Christmas Eve Eve! (in Denmark called Little Christmas Eve)
