Real Techniques.

For a long time I've been really tired of applying my foundation with a sponge. I don't know why, but it annoys me quite a bit, which is a bid odd, to be honest. So I went looking for alternatives, but every single foundation brush I found were all flat, which I didn't really understand. I bought a cheap one anyway and ended up only applying my foundation with that once, because it was even worse than a sponge.

So when my friend told me about iHerb and how she had a discount code that gave me 5% off the price (it's not much but it's something!) I figured I could just as well buy the Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman Core Collection brushes. I heard about them for the first time in one of Tanya Burr's YouTube videos and when I found them in Boots they were too expensive for me to buy, I think it was about £20-something for a package. But on iHerb I got the Core Collection for less than a tenner, which surprised me, but also made me really happy, obviously.

Since the foundation brush in this collection is also flat, I'm using the blush brush to apply my foundation and a different brush from E.L.F to apply blush. Lately I've been applying more make-up when I'm heading out than just foundation on my skin, eyeshadow, mascara and eyeliner on my eyes. Contouring can be fun and I definitely think it can look pretty, if done right. Since I've just started practicing I'm sure I'm not doing it right, but oh well. I'll learn it. Someday.

I've already used all of the brushes (except the foundation one, what would I use that one for) which I started doing the day the package arrived actually, and I absolutely love it. I feel like applying foundation all the time, even on days where I'm not going anywhere, just because it feels so much more nice to apply it with a brush. I can definitely recommend the Core Collection to anyone who wants a nice way to apply their foundation and other skin make-up essentials!

New in: MAC.

When you visit the airport in Copenhagen, you always have to look around in the tax free shop. But all I wanted to look at was all the MAC make-up, when I was there a few weeks back. They have a little stall in the airport, not too big, but there are still plenty of products. I looked mostly at the lipsticks and the eyeshadows, and I ended up buying one of each.

The eyeshadow is called Naked Lunch, and it's this nude beige colour, with some golden shimmer in it. I really like it, because I kinda needed a pretty eyeshadow that wasn't too much, but still propriate for parties and stuff. And Naked Lunch is just perfect for that, but also for the everyday look - I'm probably not wearing that a lot, since MAC's too expensive for me to just use up really quickly, haha.

The lipstick is called Rebel, and it's a violet shade with a splash of pink in it. It's dark, but not too dark, and since I love almost anything purple/violet, I thought it was just perfect for me. It looked so pretty that I just had to have it - and both me and Cille wore it for the Pierce The Veil gig in London!
For me it's only something I'd wear to a party, because I like wearing different shades on my lips to parties, something you don't usually see as a lipstick colour. But I never wear any lipstick besides at special occations such as parties or gigs, so yeah. If you do like taking a risk, it is suitable for the everyday look, because it's not too much.

Everyday make-up.

I actually used to wear quite a lot make-up until 8-9 months ago, which was actually mostly because that was around where all my final exams started, and I just couldn't be bothered putting on make-up. Then came the summer holidays and it was too hot to put on make-up and then I did nothing for a few months, where I didn't put on make-up either... And then I just couldn't be bothered getting up every morning to put on a lot of make-up when I was in England, because I prefered sleeping.

So now it's come down to only a few things: concealer, foundation, eyeshadow and mascara. It might sound like a lot, some people only wear eyeshadow or mascara, but compared to what I used to it's not a lot.
And I thought I just wanted to show you how it looks.

For those of you who want to know what I'm using (it changes a lot, actually):

  • Hide the Blemish concealer from Rimmel
  • Hello Flawless foundation from Benefit (?)
  • Earthspirit eyeshadow from MaxFactor (it's dark brown, it doesn't specify the colour)
  • False Lash Effect mascara from MaxFactor
I don't use a lot of mascara, because my lashes are so long naturally, it'd just look weird if I went nuts with a mascara, really. And I usually just buy some cheap mascara in order to make my lashes more visible, not to make them longer or anything.

Motivated, Glamorous & Drive.

The make-up wheel.

Today I tried the make-up wheel in the Lush store in Bristol as well (got the idea from Cille). You have to close your eyes while they spin it and then open your eyes again, choosing the first three colours that pop into your eyes, without thinking about favorite colours. All the colours are different kinds of make-up, liquid eyeliners, lipglosses and liquid eyeshadows.

I chose a shiny sea-blue colour, a baby pink and a purple. Those colours represented different things in my life. The first one was something that I had been today or lately, which was Motivated. I've been really motivated about the EF language course and also lately about finding some work, so that was true.

The next colour I picked was the baby pink, which was Glamorous. I was quite surprised about that one, until she started to explain. It was something that I maybe lacked in my life, and yeah, I am not glamorous at all.

The last colour I picked out was the purple one and that turned out to be the most important to me, which is also why I bought it. It was Drive, which basically is a thing that describes me. I would say that drive describes me, because I will not let anything stand in my way to achieve something. I think stubborn can be kinda connected to this one, at least in my case. And Cille said that was true as well.

Drive is a purple lipgloss with a bit shimmer in it. But it's kinda matte, which I really appreciate. And when I applied it to my lips to try it on, the colour wasn't that strong. I think it suits me really well - and I might give you some pictures another time of me wearing it!
I also bought something else from Lush, but I'm gonna show you that another time as well.

Review: MAC lipstick.

I wore my new MAC lipstick last Friday at our first party here in Bristol with some other students from EF. And damn, it was nice!

I just adore the colour of the lipstick in general, but I actually think it really suited me as well. It's a matte dark red colour and I like red lips. I don't think I'm too good with red lipstick that's too red, but a dark/matte red for me is probably what suits me best when it comes to lipstick colours, I think. I have no idea, and a professional might disagree completely, haha.

Unfortunately my camera's just shit, so you won't get a picture with me wearing the lipstick - yet! I might give you a picture sometime soon, who knows. I still have many parties yet to come here in Bristol.
So for now, have a picuture of the lipstick itself, unpacked this time, of course!

Impulse shopping.

Today I went to the dentist to get the rest of my root canal treatment done. I was pretty nervous, because one of my tooth has gone blue/grey-ish, which means that my dentist didn't remove all of my nerves last time, and I've never tried root canal treatment before, so I wasn't sure if it'd hurt or not. It luckily didn't.
And I'm gonna get my teeth bleached when I come home from England, because that might make the color disappear.

So when I was on my way home, I was supposed to just take the train directly home, but I accidentally layed my eyes on a Matas (makeup store). So I of course went in and ended up buying a few things.

Ridge filler for nails | €13,40
Mascara | €18,64
Depend purple nailpolish w/ cracked effect | €5,36
Sally Hansen base & top coat | €11,39

Review: Lime Crime.

So about a week ago I bought Lime Crime's Kaleidoscope Carousel lip gloss over eBay.
I did that because they didn't have any left on the Lime Crime webshop, which I was really bummed about, because I've really wanted it for a while. I love purple - even though I have no idea whether it looks good on me or not - and I love Lime Crime as well, so I really wanted this lip gloss badly.

It was shipped from Canada, and it said it'd take 2-3 weeks to get here, but I got it after only one week! Which is pretty nice, because if it really took 2-3 weeks, I'd have to ask my mom to ship it to me in England, because I'm going to a Halloween even over there, where I really want to wear this lip gloss!

It's a dark purple shade with blue shimmer, but luckily not too much! It suits both pale and tanned people, which is amazing, since I've only seen Jeanette wear it, and she's paler than I am, so I was crossing my fingers!
I don't like the smell of it, though, it smells kind of sticky - even though it's not - and really sweet, but I can learn to live with it. And being drunk in the streets of Exeter while wearing it will only help on me getting used to the smell of it ;)

I love the lip gloss and I really can't wait to buy another one of these! And of course more Lime Crime products. But that has to be when I come home from England and have money again...
