Music critic.

So last month I went to a little festival in the city where I live with my friend, who brought me along so I could help her write a few reviews of the concerts there for a Danish music website called Bands of Tomorrow. Sorry that I didn't write about it, I was just too lazy, woops.

Anyway, I enjoyed the weekend with the festival, drank way too much alcohol and of course did the two reviews I had to do to be able to go in free (btw I literally had a press pass, it was so cool, I even got to shoot pictures of one of the gigs wow). And then a bit later on the boss (at least that's what I think she is) of BoT contacted me, because she wanted to hire me as a music critic for their website.

How cool is that?! I'm officially a volunteer music critic. I don't get paid a dime, but I do it all for pleasure, and it's gonna be so much fun. Just writing the two reviews after the festival was so much fun, really! It'll also give me the opportunity to discover new music, even though it's only up-and-coming Danish bands that we write about. It's still pretty cool, I think. Can't wait to see where this will lead me.

A penny for your thoughts.

Warning: this is one of those posts where I talk about my thoughts and feelings. If anyone's reading this blog and if someone doesn't wanna bore themselves with reading about my thoughts and feelings, just ignore this.

Last night at 3am it kind of occured to me that I have absolutely no idea what I wanna do with my life. Yes, I'm studying at university, but that's actually just so I could do something, anything that wouldn't just be me wasting my time away. So I chose to study something I'm interested in, which is English. But I don't even know if I want a job that involves that, when I'm finished with my univeristy degree. Honestly I have no freaking idea what path I want my life to go down, I can't imagine myself having a job for any other purpose than to just earn some money for perhaps a year or two, so I can buy myself nice things. I can't see myself loving a job, not at all.

I know that some people, my mum and my friends, will tell me that this is not true, but I know it is: I have absolutely no talents. I'm not good at anything. I'm a pretty average, boring person. I have no hobbies, no passions. Well, I have a passion for music, but I can't do anything with music, except listen to it, so I can't use that. I like travelling, but I can't do that without money, and to get money I obviously need a job. And that's about all I care about in life.

It's kind of sad, isn't it? I know that I'm only 21, but I have a year and a half left of my bachelor degree and then I can go on with a masters, but I don't think I want to do that right away, because then I'd probably just end up vomiting Shakespeare, English grammar and discourse. My entire life people has always told me not to worry about what to do for a living, because there's always been years and years left of my education, so I didn't need to worry. But with a year and a half left I'm starting to worry quite a bit.

It's been years since I've last had an idea of what I wanted to be, and that was a teacher. I really don't wanna be anything like that now, so I'm back at nothing. Also I briefly had the idea that I wanted to become a psychologist and actually study psychology, but that's impossible as fuck because of my fucked up college exams, so yeah, ain't gonna happen. Again, back at nothing.

I can't even direct myself down some path like "Yeah, I wanna do something in a company" or "I wanna educate children" or "I wanna sit at an office all day long". I have absolutely NO FREAKING IDEA what I wanna do. I feel like if I don't find out pretty quickly I'll just end up the rest of my life doing shitty jobs and hating myself. I know that's not true and I will probably realise some day what I want to do, but I wish I could just find out now so I didn't have to worry. I hate worrying, it's the worst fucking shit in life.

Also I don't really feel like doing some shitty job after I finish uni in a year and a half, until the day I figure out what I actually wanna do. I could be completely unrealistic and say "I wanna be in a band" even though I can't play any instrument let alone sing, or perhaps say "I wanna be a movie star" even though I live in a country where we do weird as fuck films. I'm not gonna be unrealistic with stupid dreams, I can't even be bothered. I just wish I had a calling in life or just had sort of an idea of what I wanted to spend perhaps not the rest of my life doing, but at least a lot of years.

I'm a bit scared of the future. No, scratch that, I'm insanely fucking god damn shitballs scared of the future. I've spent most of my life going to school and I actually have no idea how to function without school. I spent most of my gap year doing absolutely nothing, so I don't even have proper work experience. That and also the thing I've been complaining about in this weird-arse blogpost, the fact that I have no idea what to do with my life and job-wise when I'm finished with my education.

I just feel like there's a year and a half left of my life and then absolutely nothing. Just unknown stuff out there somewhere. I don't have a future planned, I'm not sure about anything in my life. I feel like my life will just stop at 22, a few months before I turn 23 I will just cease to exist. I know everyone's future's unknown, but at least most people have something planned or at least ideas.. I don't, not at all. It's scary as fuck. I'm afraid I'm slowly but surely entering some sort of existential crisis. Freaking help.

Carnival.

Every year there's a carnival in the city where I live now, which is Aalborg. It's a really big deal in this part of the country and people from near and far come to the city to take part in it. They call it the biggest carnival in the North, but I don't know about that. I know that there are a lot of people every year, though, and I'd heard it was absolutely insane.

I wasn't planning on going this year because I wanted to go to Copenhagen, but as we were handing our semester projects in only a few days later, I decided to stay in Aalborg and attend the carnival instead with my good friend Camilla. A few weeks back we went shopping for our costumes, and I'd decided I wanted to be a pirate. Camilla was going as a flapper/Charleston girl. I really like planning costumes for parties and such, even though it rarely ever happens that I'm going to a party where costumes are required. I even ended up sewing some new buttons I bought with small anchors on them onto the white shirt I was going to wear. Yes, I spend a lot of time preparing my costume!

As the day came, Camilla had been sleeping here the night before, and we got up early to get ready. It took a while to get ready for both of us, but we made it in time. The carnival started in three different places all over the city at different times and we chose the latest one, because we knew it would take a while to get ready. We'd mixed some vodka and iced tea and brought that with us along with some beer, because who isn't hammered at carnival? It all started at noon and it was absolutely and utterly insane! But so much fun! The carnival ended in a park where everyone were just having fun and continuing their drinking. Music was played from everywhere and the sun was out, so most people got a bit burnt.

In the evening we went home, slept a bit and then went out to continue the drinking, me still in my costume. It was a really fun day and night and I really can't wait for next year's canival! I feel so attatched to my costume that I wish I had another occasion where I could wear it, I don't really feel like I wore it enough. It was so much fun to prepare it and even more fun to wear it! Take a look at how we looked (iPhone quality):

Lauren Curtis says it.

I don't even have anything to add other than this: I love this video and she's 100% right. If you have a day where you don't feel too good about yourself, watch this.

New in: clothes.

Before I went to visit my mum in Copenhagen for two weeks last month, I decided to treat myself a little. My wardrobe only consists of black t-shirts, black jeans, a few white t-shirts and a single gray tank top, so I figured I needed to freshen it up a bit for spring and summer.

Foolish of me to end up buying two black things. But hey, at least they're different than the black things I already have! All the things are from H&M.

My first time.

This post is inspired by, well, every YouTuber I've seen doing these videos. It was a thing they did a while ago and I suddenly remembered it and thought it'd be kind of fun to do my own little version of this. So here you go!

First concert.
The first concert I went to on my own was Cinema Bizarre back in 2008, I think. I sat in the queue for a long time, as you do, with two of my old friends whom I no longer speak to, but I remember it as a lovely day. They played at Lille Vega in Copenhagen, which is the venue where I've seen most bands live. I don't remember much of the show, but I seem to recall it was a really good one. I do remember that they were acting silly and connecting well with the crowd. I didn't get to meet any of them, because I did a what was later known as a Tville - I simply left before the band came out from the venue. And yes, the Tville was a phrase that was used by my friends whenever we were talking about concerts. Luckily it's not a thing anymore.

First album.
I'm not even sure what the first album I bought myself was, but the first album I remember buying myself was Elephunk by Black Eyed Peas. Yeah, that's kind of odd to me as well. I apparently had a phase where I liked them a lot. I don't remember it too well, though. I do still enjoy their music from time to time, but it's not something I actively listen to and I probably wouldn't attend a concert with them if they ever came to Denmark, just because it'd probably be more than I could afford.

First journey.
The first time I ever left the country without my parents was back in 2008 when I went to Budapest, Hungary with my classmates, some teachers and a few parents to kids in my class. It was a trip that brought us even closer together even though it was our last year in school before college and all, but we all enjoyed it a lot and we got to see different sides of each other.
The first time I left the country without any adults - besides myself - was when I went to Dublin, Ireland in the summer of 2012. It was only a weekend and I was supposed to attend concerts, but they got cancelled just before we left. Nonetheless it was a nice trip which was spent shopping and hanging in bars. And Dublin is such a beautiful city!

First accident.
It was when I was two years old (I think) and hit my head so hard I had to get stitches, but I honestly don't remember anything from that episode and my parents haven't told me much about it. I have a weird memory of me sitting in a chair and then somehow falling off it, but I'm not sure that's what really happened. Basically my childhood is one big blur of real memories and dreams I've apparently had. Weird, huh.

First sibling.
This was of course my baby brother, who was born in early 1996. Our parents have told us that I apparently treated him very well when he was a baby and I was two years old. I never hit him, I never made him cry and I loved playing with him. Later on when we were older we never got into real fights, neither with words nor fists, but we always always always had stupid discussions about things that didn't matter at all. But we'd always be good friends again minutes later. I remember that we always knew how the other one was feeling, even though I don't recall us talking about our feelings even once. Much later he was joined by my dad's girlfriend's kids and I really hope they've come to stay because I love them like they're my real siblings.

First kiss.
If the little pecks in kindergarten with boyfriends people had back then counts, then I assume it was with my boyfriend at the time. I don't actually remember it, but I know we did kiss. But if that one doesn't count I honestly don't remember who my first real kiss was. I have absolutely no idea who it was, where it was, when it was or how it was. It could've been between the ages 12-15, because that's the few years of my life where I don't remember much. It's one big blur, worse than my childhood. But I literally don't remember and hearing what everyone tells about their first kiss and how terrible it was, I'm actually glad I don't remember. I do remember my first drunk kiss, though.

First time I got drunk.
This was in 2009 when I was 15 and it was at the party our classmates threw when our last day of school before the exams started. We'd been out at a restaurant for dinner with our teachers and that was really nice. After that we parted ways with our teachers and went home to one of my classmates, who threw the party in his basement. I don't even remember what I had been drinking, only that it was also the first time I ever tasted tequila, which I really didn't like and I still don't. I ended up vomiting on the street and lying on the pavement with my head resting in my at the time best friend's lap. He sobered up because I was drunk for the first time and he had to take care of me, which was so sweet. My mum picked me up a bit after midnight and I remember that I had to concentrate really hard to not puke everywhere in the car. Oops.

And what's better to do when it's cold as fuck outside than to sit with a few candles lit and a cup of tea?

I'm back!

So after a bit more than a month without wifi, I finally have it again!

I'm now living in my own flat with my roommate and everything's running smoothly. Well, except for the fact that I haven't unpacked all my stuff yet. Let's just say I'm too lazy. I'll hit you up with pictures of my new room as soon as I've settled some more, and just to warn you: it might be a little while.

Living the university life is awesome, to be honest. It's not too difficult and I'm getting on quite well. And all the parties don't hurt either! Well, my liver gets hurt, but it'll live. I'm bonding well with some people from my semester, but also some of my tutors from 3rd, 7th and 9th semester, which is absolutely great.

You can now look forward to me blogging a lot more frequently again, which is lovely. I hope you've missed me! I've definitely missed blogging. I already have a few posts planned out, actually, so that's perfect!

On another note, I might soon make an idea I've had in my head for about a year now become reality. I will keep you posted on that! Moving out from home is apparently all it took for me to finally consider getting started. Oooh, the secrets!

Anyway, take a listen to my favourite song at the moment: Pierce The Veil - Million Dollar Houses (The Painter).

Quick update.

So yeah, I moved out..

Talk about being a grown up, aye?!

Nope, not really. Anyway, I'm currently living in a city 5 hours away from Copenhagen and I don't have a proper place to stay, so I'm in a hostel. And that hostel has really bad wifi. So I'm really sorry for not updating more, but I can't do it differently, unfortunately.

The 15th I'll move into my own place with my friend's brother. He found a place and asked if I wanted to share with him and of course I said yes! It might be a few days or even a week before we get wifi, though.. Just so you're warned.

Also I've started university and I'm constantly tired. But it's worth it! I'm slowly getting to know people (who by the way speak very differently to me) and so far the three classes I've had were awesome! I didn't think I'd ever say this, but: I'm excited about school. For the first time in my entire life. And that says a lot.

I just thought I wanted to show you where I live atm: in a small cabin with 5 other people. Two from Denmark, one from Estonia, one from France and one from Russia. So yeah, we mostly speak English. I'm pretty sure my Danish will worsen because of this, haha.
We have a very small fridge and share showers and toilets with other people living here as well. There are mostly only students living here and even one girl from my class (as far as I know).

The most of our room is in this picture and I sleep at the top left corner!

University.

A few months back I applied for university in 4 different cities in Copenhagen. I want to study English for three years and then travel to England to live and work there for a bit.

Yesterday my plans of the future started - I got accepted into University of Aalborg! It's a small city quite far away from the capital where I usually live (nearly 5 hours to be exact). I'll be moving over there soon and start uni at August 30th. It will be such an amazing experience with new people and new surroundings!

Even though it's nice with a few changes, I'm already planning to go back to Copenhagen on my 2nd year of uni. It might be possible for me to transfer to Copenhagen University in a year, and then I'll be back in Copenhagen, so I don't have to do three years far away from all my friends and family, and of course the best city in Denmark.

It's kinda scary for me, to start my education at uni and most of all moving out scares the crap out of me. But I know I'll handle it pretty well. I will hopefully be having my own room, but I might live with others - people that I'll have to get to know. I'd go nuts if I had to live entirely by myself!

I will of course update you a bit, depending on what's happening.

What is in my bag.

So I thought I wanted to show you guys what I carry around with me in my bag, which I always bring with me. Of course I sometimes carry other things with me as well, but these things are pretty much always there.

Take a look inside!

This is my bag. Not too fancy.
The big room: my passport, a wallet for coins, my keys, a lock,
gum, a drawing from one of the kids at work,
a box for tampons and a discount
coupon for a clothing company called
Become Antique by Max Helyer.
One of the smaller rooms: 4 different kinds of lip balm.
The other small room: all my cards (since I lost my wallet) and some British pennies.

A little piece of New Zealand.

In January my friend Marie went to New Zealand for quite a while. And she decided to be so sweet and buy some presents to me and some of her other friends, yay!

So yesterday she hosted a get together in her flat, and of course most of us showed up (except poor MM, hope you're alright!), not only to get our presents, but also to enjoy an evening in the company of each other. We had so much fun, eating home made burgers for dinner, ice cream for desert, playing games and just chatting. I really love those evenings we have together and I'm already looking forward to the next one.

Marie gave me a necklace with a picture that shows a bird cage, with the door open, and a little black bird flying out of it. I just really adore it, really. I feel like it has some deeper meaning to me as a person, though I can't seem to explain what it is. I'm glad she got me this.

I've never been in New Zealand myself, but I'd acutally like to go some day. I have a lot of other places I want to visit firstly, but I definitely well visit New Zealand as well some time in the future. For now I can carry this little, beautiful piece of New Zealand with me anywhere I want.
Thank you so much, Marie <3

Flashback: March 2011.

It might've been two years ago, but I haven't talked about it on this blog before.
In March 2011 I went to southern Spain, also known as Andalusia with my classmates and three teachers, on a study trip. To be more exact we went to four cities: Granada, Málaga, Seville and Córdoba. We were there for 6 or 7 days (my memory's quite bad) I think, and it was actually a really nice trip.

We saw a lot of different things and spend some time with some students from a Spanish school in Seville. It was difficult to communicate with them, because we didn't speak Spanish that well and only one of them understood English. The day we left Seville to go to Granada, I became really ill. It was really annoying, some kind of stomach virus. And it lasted the rest of the time there, or well, not the virus, but feeling really weak after throwing everything up. Oh, and I gave it to one of my room mates.

But besides that, and the fact that only one of my three friends were on that trip, it was really amazing, actually. We saw a lot of really exciting stuff and experienced the nightlife of Spain (yes I was 17, no, they didn't care). I'm definitely going back!

Also it was really nice to get away from the Danish winter's last desperate grip and down to 20-25 degrees in Spain. I could use that again right about now.

Back in kindergarten?

As some of you who's read my blog may know, I had an internship at a shop before Christmas. But as one of my bosses went to Thailand for 3 weeks in January, they closed the entire place down until February. Though, when February came and I texted my boss about when I was going to start working there, she didn't reply. And she hasn't done since. So I was forced to look for somewhere else to start an internship.

And today I found somewhere: a kindergarten! So yeah, I'm gonna work in a kindergarten with kids in the age of 3-6 for 4 weeks, starting from some day in March.
Let's see if I can handle this with my short temper, being an impatient human being, who usually don't like spending too much time with kids, because they become these really annoying creatures.

But now I'm gonna spend 37 hours a week with loads of kids who aren't related to me in any way, and I'm gonna practice not strangling all of them or letting them drown mysteriously in the lake right next to the place.

It's gonna be fun!

Time for a change.

I'm really sorry for the lack of posts at the moment, but my life is really not interesting enough to blog about.
But something interesting did happen to me a week ago: I moved into a new flat with my mum. Finally!
We live in the city again, really close to everything, which is great. I still have a ton of boxes in my room, unfortunately. I haven't been able to write a blog post about this before today, because I only got my internet back Friday, having been away from it for an entire week. Which was tough.
I might make a video of a tour around my flat once everything gets settled - which means that we also have to paint and get a new kitchen before that'll happen.

Another interesting thing that happened to me, is that I finally got to start fulfilling my New Years resolution: I got a gym membership a week ago, and I've been there twice. I'm going to go to the gym 2-3 times a week, maybe even more if I want to. I'm going with my friend so it won't be too boring, hopefully. It's been fun so far, at least.

Everyday make-up.

I actually used to wear quite a lot make-up until 8-9 months ago, which was actually mostly because that was around where all my final exams started, and I just couldn't be bothered putting on make-up. Then came the summer holidays and it was too hot to put on make-up and then I did nothing for a few months, where I didn't put on make-up either... And then I just couldn't be bothered getting up every morning to put on a lot of make-up when I was in England, because I prefered sleeping.

So now it's come down to only a few things: concealer, foundation, eyeshadow and mascara. It might sound like a lot, some people only wear eyeshadow or mascara, but compared to what I used to it's not a lot.
And I thought I just wanted to show you how it looks.

For those of you who want to know what I'm using (it changes a lot, actually):

  • Hide the Blemish concealer from Rimmel
  • Hello Flawless foundation from Benefit (?)
  • Earthspirit eyeshadow from MaxFactor (it's dark brown, it doesn't specify the colour)
  • False Lash Effect mascara from MaxFactor
I don't use a lot of mascara, because my lashes are so long naturally, it'd just look weird if I went nuts with a mascara, really. And I usually just buy some cheap mascara in order to make my lashes more visible, not to make them longer or anything.

Flashback: 2012.

2012 was a great year for me. I tried a lot of new things, travelled to different countries and went to a bunch of concerts, which is just what I love to do.

First of all I graduated from my school on the 25th of June, which you can call high school or college or whatever (it's hard to explain). I'd been struggling the last three years with that, experiencing a lot of failures, but luckily I also had some successful experiences. Well, a few. My exams sucked balls, but that's alright, since you will always have another chance, which is so good about living in Denmark.
But three days later I got run over by a bike and smashed my face and two of my teeth, which would have ruined pretty much everything for some people, but I was fine with it. Except for the fact that I looked like I'd gotten beaten with a bat.

25/06 2012.
I went to a lot of concerts in 2012, mostly with small, local bands because I know a few people who play in bands, and they played a lot of gigs in the fall. I brought Cille with me to most of those concerts. Besides those small bands. I also saw one of my favourite bands thrice, which I'm really thankful for. Yep, it's The Dead Lay Waiting.
First time I saw them in 2012 was in June in Kolding, where they had to sleep at Emma's house. Which was both a huge mistake and one of the best things we've ever decided to offer anyone. It was like the three of us were babysitters for a bunch of 5-year-olds, 7 of them to be more exact. Which is really exhausting. Trying to make them shut up and sleep, organising who could shower when and cleaning up after them.

The picture below pretty much describes the entire weekend: Tom, the drummer pointing and smiling at Cille because she said his hat was nice, right before flipping the bird at me for saying it wasn't nice.

01.06.2012

I went out of the country twice in 2012: to Dublin, Ireland and to Bristol, England. Dublin was only for a weekend, but it was enough for me to fall completely in love with the city, and I definitely know that I'm going back some day. I went there with Cille and Emma and we were actually supposed to see The Dead Lay Waiting live three times, but they canceled.
You can read about my trip to Bristol in previous blog posts. All I'll say here is that it was the most amazing four weeks of my life and I can't wait to get back.

14/10 - 11/11 2012
20/07 2012 - 23/07 2012

Besides doing all these nice things that I just pointed out, I also spent a lot of time with my lovely friends - and I made a bunch of new ones! Of course some Danish ones, but mostly I've made new friends from all over the world: from Colombia to England, from Germany to Korea, from Sweden to Japan and many other countries.. It's amazing how many new people you meet at a language course in another country.

09/11 2012

I'm looking forward to a lot of things in 2013. I will be going to loads of gigs, four are already planned. I'll also be going to England at least three times, and maybe even to another country, who knows?
But I'm also a bit afraid of this year. Why? Because I'm applying for university really soon. And that scares the shit out of me. But I hope that I'll get a place, wherever in Denmark it'll be, and that I will have one of my best friends by my side.

New in: electronics.

Without furhter ado: I am now the proud owner of a Nikon D3000.

I don't know if that's a good camera in the eyes of people who know a lot about cameras. It's probably not, but it's only my second camera ever, and it's way better than the other one I have, which is actually around 4-5 years old. Somehow it's still alive.

I am keeping my old shitty camera, though, because you obviously can't bring a Nikon to concerts. So I'll just get weird, shitty pictures of all the concerts I'm going to, but I'll live.

My mum also just suddenly asked me if I wanted a new DVD player, because my old one gave up (it was also a few years old), and of course I said yes. It was just a really cheap one and it'll probably just live for like 1-2 years, but I'm fine with that.

Sidenote: I just ordered a ticket to go to this vlogger event in London called Summer in the City - basically a whole lot of Youtubers are going to be there, and so am I. And Emma. I'm going to England for 2 weeks in end July/start of August (reduced from 4 to 2 because Cille won't have the money), and then once again on the 17-18th! It'll be amazing!

Happy New Year!

Hi guys! Sorry for not posting much lately (and sorry for this long text post), but the thing is that my good friend Emma came to my place Saturday and I just said goodbye to her today not long ago. So we celebrated NYE together and had loads of fun - also with Cille and the other Emma, haha.

I have to admit that I'm not quite ready for a new year yet. In my head, we've just gone into October, because I haven't been doing anything lately, except the last 3 weeks, so it's all been kinda slow. I know that amazing things will happen in 2013, I even already have a few things planned, but I'm still not ready.

For example I have to write two very important applications really soon: one for university and one for a place to live, if I'm going to university a city far away from home. And the fact that I will (hopefully) start university in 8 months and turn 20 in 9 months scares the shit out of me.

I'm glad I already have things planned, though. A bunch of concerts and at least two trips to England. And more concert dates are probably on their way.

And what about New Year's resolutions? Well, I've never had one before, because I don't really believe in it. And I'm often too lazy to follow them. But this year I have one, just one. And I really tend to follow this, because I'm sick and tired of myself wanting it, but being too much of a lazy ass twat to do it.
I want to lose weight and start eating healthier. That is really what everyone wants, and I know that I don't need to lose that much weight, because I'm not obese in any way, but I still want to lose just a bit and also become more fit. I need that in my life.

A belated happy new year to all of my readers!
